Frequently Asked Questions

What is DiggAlerts?
DiggAlerts is a service which allows you to receive an alert when other DiggAlerts users submit a story to a category you've subscribed to. Additionally, DiggAlerts lets you maintain a list of friends. Whenever a friend submits a story - regardless of the category, you'll get an alert.

How do I get my alerts?
Via Email.

I'm a registered member at digg.com, will that username and password work here?
No. We're completely autonomous, and separate from digg.com. You will need to register a username, password, and email here. We recommend using the same credentials you use on digg.com, but it's not required.

Can I submit stories to other DiggAlerts members?
Yes, once you've created your account, you can submit your story to other DiggAlerts members. The process is as easy as submitting your story to Digg.

If I'm a registered member, when I post my story to Digg, does that automatically send it to other DiggAlerts members?
No. In an effort to remain completely separate from digg.com, we require that you post your story on digg.com, and then again through your DiggAlerts.com account.

Is there a fee for sending alerts?
Currently, there is no fee during our beta period.

How many stories can I submit?
As many as you like.

Do I have to be the original story poster on digg to submit a story on DiggAlerts?
No. We would ask that you not abuse our system, however if you find a Digg story you think deserves some attention, feel free to submit it through DiggAlerts.

Does this violate the terms and conditions on digg.com?
No. We're not utilizing digg.com, scraping digg.com, or integrated with digg.com in any way.

Can digg, Inc. ban my account for using this service?
We would certainly hope not, however digg, Inc. maintains its own opinion as to what is and what is not abuse to their system. If your account is banned, you will need to take your concerns up with digg, Inc. directly.

Will alerting other DiggAlerts members increase the number of diggs my story receives?
Digg stories can be quickly lost in the "upcoming" sections. What DiggAlerts aims to do is get your story more visibility by sending it to people who are interested in your story's topic. If your story is simply not worth digging, then no number of visitors to your story's page will increase the number of diggs significantly.
